Every year in P.E. for six years we have been made to run a test called the Pacer. Basically how it works is students run back and forth across the gym and must get across the room by the sound of a beep. The intervals get shorter, and one is supposed to drop out if they miss the beep twice or get too exhausted to go on. No breaks or drinks of water.

So, I realize that this is a fairly stupid question, but does anyone know if this test actually tells much? I know that our teacher grades us on how long we can run, (or at least uses it to take account of our fitness), but it seemed to me not to be the greatest. Students got bored and dropped out, and others got such a sore throat from not having any water or time to swallow that they had to drop out because of that. I for one (but not just me)had a sore throat for three hours after the test.
Does this seem flawed to anyone else? I've noticed the problems every year.
