THE AGE OF CONSENT VARIES... in ky i think consent is 13, in IL i think it is 16, and in indiana i know it is 16.

as long as it falls within the guidelines of your state then i do not see any problem with that age difference at all.

There is not a big age difference, but the maturity level could possibly be a big difference. It depends on the experiences of the individuals. I personally would not want my 16yr old daughter to be with a 19yr old guy.

I was 14 when I met my boyfriend (now my hubby)! He was 17! I got married when I was 18 and he was 21! It's not that big of an age difference! If the girl was only 14 or if the guy was like 23 or something then I think that would be an age problem! And you can't ever tell...they may really love each other! They may even end up getting married! Good luck with the situation...whatever part you play in it!

Three years isn't that big of a difference, especially if you're both over 18. Think about it, you wouldn't ask this question if she were 20 and he was 23. In the teenage years there's a larger difference in maturity, so while it can still work, just remember to be careful, especially since she is still a minor, while the 19 year old is considered an adult. Only you can tell if you're both old enough to handle it.

If you live in the US, then you are governed by certain laws, & could find yourself in some serious trouble dating anyone under 18 years of age. Technically you are committing indissent / lewd acts with a minor. And under the law it doesn't matter if she or you are a day under 18. As an adult over the age of 18 you are responsible for whom you choose to date. I recommend you think very carefully about how to proceed in this relationship. Because even with the family's consent you can still be brought up on charges by your resident state. So yes there is a big age difference. If you are in "Real Love" then you both will have the patience & respect to wait for one another until both of you can legally date & be in a physical relationship. My prayers are with you both.

There is 17 years difference between me and my hubby. I was 17 when we met and just turned 18 when we got married. We have just celebrated 13 years together. Had my parents wanted to, they could have filed statutory rape charges on him and then for the rest of his life he would have had to register as a sex offender wherever we lived.

Think about that when you are feeling "real" love with an underage person. What if it is? What if it isn't? Can you live with having to register as a sex offender and take the risk of not being able to get a job or ever volunteer for any type of organization because you can't pass a background check?

I'd say you need to wait. If it is, indeed, "real" love, then it will still be there when she turns 18.

The age difference is not that much, but technically the relationship is illegal. A 19 year old in a relationship with a 16 year old would be considered statuatory rape.

I am 11 years older than my wife, however, my wife was 26 when our relationship began. She was an adult. Your situation is importantly different than mine, because your partner is a child by age and development. Should you be charged with statutory rape, what will you do? Will your "real love" with a child be worth the "true love" of getting punked in the pen be worth it?
