seems fairly obvious to me, every thing on your task bar and on the right side witht eh little icons, just don't shutdown your firewall unless your not on the internet.
i don't know why you are asking this question you shoudl have provided more info, if you want to do thsi because an installer for a program told you to, its really not that critical. just so long as no major program sare running it should be ok.

If all else fails try shutting down you PC and restart
