I welcomed your question, especially since I pride myself in being a good speller- but I guess I am slipping. I went online to take a spelling test of the most commonly misspelled words and this is what I found....what a lesson to be learned.....lol

This are the ones I got wrong - out of 50! Go to the site and try it for yourself......an eye-opening experience.

desiccate
indispensable
pursue
liquefy
battalion
liaison
consensus
memento
minuscule

I misspell weird all the time because I think it should be spelled wierd. That's what it sounds like so that's what I usually end up writing down/typing.

Odd. I was just thinking about that last night.

Too much reading text and words might be correctly spelt, but for some odd reason, they don't look right, like easy.

Their There
Eazy Easy E-Z (Which one looks like it is spelled wrong?)
Words that have double letters.
cigarette. ciggarette
tomorrow. tommorrow
used to have trouble with desert and dessert.
Some people might have trouble with Angle and Angel.

Those are just the one's I can name off the top of my head.

Any word that has the "I before E except after C" rule - I always have to repeat it and re-type or use spell check.

Guarantee, secretary, definitely, and sentence are on my heavy rotation list for spelling mistakes.

The funniest thing for me is that the words that might indicate someone was smrt...I mean smart (Homer Simpson reference), are ones I struggle with sometimes -

knowledge
intelligence
genius
aptitude
dictionary

I always try to put 2 "m"s in amend or amendment. Here are some others that I have to think twice about:
embarrass
maintenance
privilege
exercise (I want there to be a z in there)
forth/fourth/forty/fourteen
occurrence

a lot of words, but it really bugs me when people write down the wrong word. Like "it's" instead of "its" or "there" instead of "their".
