We cannot decide between these 2. We are traveling with children between the ages of 1 and 6 and 8 adults. We really would like a nice beach with turquoise or clear water and good food. Please help.

DREAMS!!!! If your talking about the resort in cancun...GO HERE! They have all day activities for both you and the kids. My husband and i went here before he left for boot camp, and it was heaven!! They have like 3 pools, o and def. get the couple massage! it was so romantic. There is an onsite doctor, like 5 WONDERFUL resturants. Great seafood, o and your kids would love this, there is a huge sea turtle that lives in the lagoon! The rooms are great too! And there is always something to do. The bars are great! and they have snacks going all day for you and the kids! The water is absolutly beautiful you can see your feet in. I am not much on the ocean...so there was a lagoon the my husband and i layed on rafts and floated around. We actually went about this time last year and the weather was great. Also if you like the club life there are great clubs. Oh and last thing...there are great activities but the main one i would do is swim with the dolphins!!!! Have fun...Trust me its a vacation of a lifetime. When my husband gets home from afghanistan we are going back!! good luck!

Well...the beach at Dreams is rather rocky. Punta Cana has a lot of topless people running around and very few people speak English. I would recommend Gran Caribe Real in Cancun myself, or one of the RIU Resorts. Gran Caribe Real is my favorite resort in Cancun. I will warn you that there is construction going on next door ...... they are building a brand new addition to the resort. The beach there is wonderful....cabana beds and hammocks......and the food is really good. I just stayed 7 nights in Avalon Grand and it was also good....construction going on next door as well. I would have to recommend somewhere in Cancun .......and avoid Punta Cana. I just don't care for all the topless people running around down there......and the people are not as friendly there either. I would probably seek a different resort than Dreams if I was looking for good beach. The pools at Dreams are wonderful if that will be enough....they have a lagoon pool that is just amazing. The food there is some of the best resort food in Cancun. I just want to warn you that the beach is not that great there. It is a wonderful resort other than the rocky beach. They have all kinds of kids activities going on during the day.

With children I would suggest Cancun. Dominican is still very 3rd world if you are off of the resort and I personally wouldnt feel safe traveling with children. On the otherhand, if youre not looking to leave the resort, Punta Cana is beautiful. You wont be harrassed on the beach as they patrol the beaches (very covertly) so you dont have to worry about beggars.

I would also say Cancun. Punta Cana is very nice, but sort of third world and the water is nowhere near as pretty as Cancun.

I would say Sunscape, they have a kids club as for the beach it's beautiful, it's an hour from the airport but well worth it. They have many room categories, take one with a jacuzzi on your balcony!! Loved it, there a la cartes are wonderful, my fav was Himitsu, they have nightly shows in the theatre, and the staff are great, there isn't much shopping and you will spend most of your time on the resort, but trips can be arranged. You should also visit Saona Island....wonderful as well.
