Haha, no. Don't worry about it. You're what, 4 years behind at most? 3 years, maybe?

If you were 50, than, yeah, it'd likely be too late for medicine. 21? Definitely not.

It's never too late--you're only three years older than the typical college freshman. That being said, it's VERY difficult to get into medical school--it's been said that fewer than half of all applicants in the U.S. are accepted. You must be a top student with excellent MCAT scores. Not psyching you out--just telling you the reality.

Another option is to become a nurse anesthetist. They do a lot of what an anesthesiologist does, but with less training. A CRNA has a bachelor's degree, at least one year of hospital nursing experience, and a master's degree (about 2 years). Learn more about this career option here: http://www.aana.com/BecomingCRNA.aspx?ucNavMenu_TSMenuTargetID=8&ucNavMenu_TSMenuTargetType=4&ucNavMenu_TSMenuID=6&id=108

Good luck.

Absolutely not. I did not begin my undergrad studies until I was 31, I'm nearly finished with my Master's (this May!). I won't begin my doctoral program until I am at least 41.

But if you are thinking of doing this DO IT NOW. The longer you put it off, the more obligations your life will accumulate until getting that degree becomes secondary to paying a mortgage, raising kids, etc.

I wish you well.

You are never too old as long as you are in good enough health. I was 25 before I started college. I graduated with a bachelor degree and will always be glad I went ahead and pursued my goals. Do something TODAY to get yourself headed toward your dreams.

No. As long as you finish college and go to med school, you can be an anesthesiologist. Honestly, it's easier to go back before you're thirty.

No!!! I have many friends who went back to school and were much older than 21. My sister has a great career as a nurse and she didn't go back to school until she was 30.

Another friend went to medical school at 32, and has a great career as a doctor now.

Go for it!!!!

It's never too late.
My mom just graduated from college and she is 62.

I'm 42 and just started studying to be a home decorator to add to my already established business.

Do it!! Good luck!

No. You have to get a college degree. Then go to medical school to become a doctor. Then specialize in anesthesiology. You are looking at more than eight years of education.

It is not too late provided you have not wasted your time up to this point. Assuming you can get into medical school then go for it. Don't wait around wondering... go do it. Best of luck,

It is never too late, and it's better late, than never. My friend's granda went to college at the age of 63. How do you like that? ;)
