MOST companies do. They will usually state it on the application when you are applying or in the job advertisement it will be stated. The only types of companies I can think of that don't are really small mom and pop shops, some minimum wage jobs, and construction sites (even these places usually require at least a drug test).
If I were you, I'd take care of the old warrant. Call them up and see if you can work something out. I know it sounds weird, but you might be better off just calling the state where the warrant is and asking them what you need to do to fix this old warrant.
If it's for a very serious crime, you either need to turn yourself in or apply for a job that won't ask you for background check and pay you under the table i.e. "some" construction, manual labor jobs. Like I said, you will see it written on the application typically they have a paper that has you sign off on that they can run a background check or it will be stated somewhere on the application.
Good luck.

Not all companies do, and almost none will tell you if they do. They also will not tell you that they are not hiring you because of the warrant. Your best bet is to get the warrant taken care of as soon as possible.
