how far along in a pregnancy can you be before you require an operation for the removal of a baby who has been miscarried?? i guess what i am asking is.at what point is surgury necessary? i know that in early pregnancy you can just bleed and cramp for a bit and that's it..but what about if you're further along?
if i was 5 months, for example, would i just cramp and bleed? or would i need to go to have an operation?

Most likely beyond the first month you'd require what's called a D&C, which stands for dialation and cutterage. What they do is they dialate your cervix and remove any tissue of the fetus that remains. It's very minor. I had to have one done to treat endometrioisis. Your cervix is too small to allow the, ah... remains... to pass through beyond about the first month, month and a half of pregnancy. Sometimes, early miscarriages also require a D&C to remove any tissue that the body did not expell on it's own. If you think you're having a miscarriage, please see your doctor because they may be able to determine why you had one, if you need to have a D&C, and advise for future pregnancies.

Yes, you absolutely will! Your child is wonderful and joyous tucked safely in Gods arms and is thanking you every day for creating him and giving him eternal life. This baby loves you so much and doesn't want you to be sad. I too have PCOS and have lost babies. I miss this terribly and will always wonder what they would look and be like. It does bring solace to know that I will see them again. I am currently pregnant again so I know that it is possible to concieve with PCOS. A little extra assistance is required though. You WILL be reunited with your child someday and hold him forever in your arms, in the meantime hold him safely in your heart. An Ugly Pair of Shoes I am wearing a pair of shoes. They are ugly shoes. Uncomfortable Shoes. I hate my shoes. Each day I wear them, and each day I wish I had another pair. Some days my shoes hurt so bad that I do not think I can take another step. Yet, I continue to wear them. I get funny looks wearing these shoes. They are looks of sympathy. I can tell in others eyes that they are glad they are my shoes and not theirs. They never talk about my shoes. To learn how awful my shoes are might make them uncomfortable. To truly understand these shoes you must walk in them. But, once you put them on, you can never take them off. I now realize that I am not the other one who wears these shoes. There are many pairs in the world. Some women are like me and ache daily as they try and walk in them. Some have learned how to walk in them so they don't hurt quite as much. Some have worn the shoes so long that days will go by before they think of how much they hurt. No woman deserves to wear these shoes. Yet, because of the shoes I am a stronger women. These shoes have given me the strength to face anything. They have made me who I am. I will forever walk in the shoes of a woman who has lost a child. Author Unknown

It totally depends on your personal situation, I had a miscarriage on 18th December last year, I was 12 weeks and my body expelled everything with no need for a D+C, I have a friend who exactly the same thing happened to, but her body did not expell everything and she needed to go and have a D+C.

it really depends at 5 months I'm sure you would need surgery
if you feel you have miscarried go to your doctor/ER and they would be able to tell you if you would need surgery. some women need surgery in the early stages to get the placenta out, some bleed out everything. i would talk to your doctor if this is a concern for you

I was only 9 weeks and I had to have a D&C to remove the baby. It just depends on if your body is going to expell it on its own. Otherwise severe infection can occur.

Most of the time you need a D & C. Even though it is called a surgical procedure they don't actually cut you open. I was about 9 weeks and had to have one.
