I broke my ankle a few years back, had surgery, they put 5 screws in my ankle and one in between my tibia and fibia, so now of course when the weather changes it hurts. Lately the weather hasn't been changing as much and it hurts more than ever, right where the one screw is between my two leg bones.

First of all, I'd ignore that first poster claiming to be a doctor. Anyone with such poor spelling and grammar probably didn't graduate medical school (fourth grade children know when to use there in place of their!) And what the hell is this "east to west" nonsense?

Second, I've got hardware in my bones too, and from time to time it hurts. Some weeks and months are worse than others. Part of this is from things rubbing on each other that were never meant to be inside your body. The orthopedic surgeon who performed my surgery told me that I should have the screws removed, since the bones are all healed, but I've just been dealing with it.

If the pain gets bad enough, go see the doctor who did your surgery. He/she may take some of the hardware out.

Yes it may be Tibia another is not fibia, it is Fibula. You have not written the name of bone which fractured. But as a Doctor what I know is this that their is no need to tighten a screw in ankle, what to talk of 5 screws. It will hurt you when ever wind will flow from East to West. You should take anti inflammatory when you have pain. Ibuprofen will be good enough.

Usually it will hurt when the weather changes because of barometric pressure changes..... if it is now hurting you more than ever, it may have become slightly dislodged. The best thing to do is go back to the doctor who did the surgery, if possible. You may need to have that screw taken out; if it's been years, the injury may have healed enough that bone has filled in and the screw isn't necessary to keep it together and in the anatomically correct position. Either way you should go to a doctor & get it checked out.

I badly sprained my ankle about 3 weeks ago. I was in a hurry going down the stairs, lost my balance and landed on a bad side of my left foot, causing my left ankle to be stretched going on the inside. The first 48 hours were excruciating and the pain was un-believable. I've never had a serious ankle injury before.

So I immediately treated it using the RICE method. The following day, the bruising and swelling were so horrible. I found out that I got a second degree sprain and immediately panicked after that. I had a football game on that week and it been looking forward to it because I've been training for rt. I had teammates that had similar injuries and it took them months to fully recover, some of them stopped playing altogether. So I kinda had a short-term depression because I can't imagine myself not being able to run and play sports anymore.

Because I was so desperate to recover again, I contacted a lot of people that I know who do sports and asked them if they had similar injuries. One friend of mine, from the boy's football team in my university, told me about H.E.M. Ankle Rehab. I got a copy 4 days after I got injured. I immediately read and followed what was instructed and felt improvement on the first day. I was able to walk a bit, but I was in pain.

A couple of days after that, the swelling and bruising were subsid-ing significantly and on the fourth day, I was walking comfortably again. Although I've had felt a bit of stiffness, I continued doing what was instructed. My sister was surprised that I have recovered this fast. I told her about this book and was shocked on how effective the procedures were. I'm just so happy that this book was shared to me and how effective it is.

Heal your ankle fully & fast?

i think i'd get the dr. to check it out, as it might be injured or infected (low grade). or it might have shifted, get a proffesional to look at it.
