Conor Oberst has made many music videos and albums (including compositions, 7", and cassettes), rivals the mainstream, and has been #2 (and maybe #1) a lot of times, played on tv, and sells albums worldwide (or at least in a few other countries). So far, it seems like no one knows about him at the schools I've been to. Why is this? If he is so famous, why isn't he known that well?

The really great are rarely given recognition in their time and only serve to fill the pages of music magazines 20 yrs after they fall from the radar...

So far he hasn't been arrested for drunken driving or been photographed without underwear. He has some catching up to do if he wants to be a celebrity.
