Racism only seems to work one way. You would think a people who have been so hurt by racism would be opposed to it in all forms, including their own.

Usually, "black" people are offended because the historical usage of that and other terms was intended to be negative. As much as you feel as though some people are using certain HISTORICAL events to their advantage, an introspective person would understand that those events are significant and still have ramifications in today's society.
To imply that African Americans would "throw a fit" if there was an all-white college or all white associations is a juvenile statement. If you consider that until the mid 1950's, almost all institutions in society where "White Only". Black colleges were created because African Americans were not allowed to go to any other institutions of higher learning. Regarding black television channels and awards, it's similar to someone from Memphis, TN. watching the Country Music Awards or women that choose to watch Oxygen or the Lifetime Channel. It's not as if anyone outside of that demographic cannot watch it. It's a channel or show which caters to the interests of a certain slice of our society.
Saying the words you used to describe Caucasians negatively is just as bad as using the words used to describe African-Americans negatively. Anyone who feels as though those terms are acceptable in public or amongst themselves is inflammatory at best and ignorant at worst.
The way you gloss over racism and that it was the status quo in this country is disturbing. Whether you want to acknowledge it or not, African-Americans were mistreated and de-humanized for a significant amount of time in this country. If a group of people were disenfranchised by the greater society for hundreds of years and then were given "equal status" through legislation and other means, it would take at least the same amount of time to begin to remedy those wrongs. Even now, racism occurs. Just because it's not the Klan burning crosses or people being auctioned or hung in town square doesn't mean that all is equitable in today's times. Your simplistic view of this very complex subject is disappointing.
The way you've worded this questions leads me to believe that you think there is a double-standard. This is no double-standard. Wrong is Wrong. Ignorant is Ignorant. Look at the bigger picture and you should see that there is much to be done by Caucasians, African-Americans and all the other groups of people that define America.

First of all, I'm black, and that is what I prefer to be called.
Second of all, white people are not victims. And, how many times is this question going to be asked. You'd swear people would figure out that little search for questions box and look at one of the other 5,000 times its been asked.
I'll go ahead and answer your question anyway...
BLACK COLLEGES- they were owned by white people as a form for segregation. Do some research. And, all races are welcome there. You'd see about the same percentage of whites there as you would see black faces at an ivy league school. So, whats the difference?
BLACK TELEVISION CHANNELS- there is only one. BET. And it is owned by Viacom. White people capitolizing off of black culture. Take that up with them. There are plenty of other channels where you would NEVER see the face of a minority on there. We're not complaining about that.

And I have 2 degrees! I have 2 beautiful children. And the thing I'm glad about the most right now after reading the spew you put online is that I'm am so glad I'm not a jealous white person who sits around and think of horrible things to say about people instead of trying to find something positive to do with your life! Oh well.....What the hell! I'm going to make love to my husband now. I've been on this website writing to you hateful racists enough today. Have a nice weekend!

i agree. if it was announced that there is going to be an all white school, network, etc., we would definately hear about it! But when its the other way around, we're like, ok they deserve it. I guess black people(some) still think we owe them something. Personally when i see a black person, i just see a person. im not a racist, i try not to judge but i see where you are coming from.
Honestly i dont think ANYONE should be able to create an all white, all black, all hispanic whatever. if we keep doing that, there will always be racism.

AND ALSO WHEN I LOOK AT MYSELF I'M BROWN NOT BLACK ... AND I KNOW IM CONSIDERED REALLY DARK TO SOMEONE THAT'S LIKE MEXICAN ASIAN OR WHITE BUT TO ME I'M NOT THAT DARK AND I'VE SEEN DARK AFRICAN AMERICANS TRUST ME ... AND I DON'T WANT TO BE CALLED BLACK LIKE I'M THE COLOR OF CHARCOAL OR SOMETHING ... EVEN THOUGH SOME DARK AFRICAN AMERICANS ARE PRETTY I DON'T THINK I'D LIKE HAVING REALLY DARK SKIN ..ABOUT 5 SHADES FROM BEING BLACK

Black people have learned how to push the buttons of liberal white people. It is strictly manipulation.
The original Portuguese word for black is N eg ro. Go to the heart of darkest Africa and it obvious why they are called black.
Black people can call me "whitey" all they want. I am what I am and don't consider it a slur.
