Science development and recent evolution of social rules make the people live longer, nowadays the actual population is estimated in 6,605,046,992 inhabitants, however the life quality is becoming lower day by day, the earth almost can afford the task to feed so many people, scientists believe the world population already entered in some involution, in such a way, that will be reduced drastically in the next century, mainly because the lack of food, medicine but more important "water". Personally I don't think the Earth can support the existence of humankind to much, it will be reduced to a limit which would be bearable, may be will happens in the next 200 years, a new civilization will appear with new patterns, the story will repeat many times, every time with a more reduced population until the complete extinction occur.
