i found out it DID happen, and it is in the travis cty police reports from 1966-1973, off of rt 17, in austin

It was based on Ed Gein. Only some of the stuff in that movie happened I have searched to find the truth and the only thing I ever found was on Ed Gein who is the basis for Texas buffalo bill and almost all canablistic movies out there in some way or another.

Yes. Ed Gein was the basis for Leatherface, as well as parts of the serial killer in Silence of the Lambs (not hannibal, the other crazy dude, whose name I can't remember at the moment).
