Yes I know that. I worked for a domestic violence shelter. All the staff ALWAYS dreaded Superbowl Sunday due to the increased violent episodes. We always got a larger number of intakes that Sunday.
Most of them were due to women getting pissed off for being ignored during the game, cutting off the power, standing deliberately in front of the TV, not having enough food or drinks (especially beer), etc. One woman came in with the imprint of the cordless phone on the right side of her face. Her husband had hit her with it because she stood in front of the TV during kickoff, demanding that she get some attention for once. Not a good time for that kind of demand. I'm not excusing what he did by any means. She should have had more brains & common sense to leave him alone for a few hours.
NO ONE deserves to be abused, male, female, child, adult, elderly person, infant, toddler, ect. It should NOT hurt to exist in this world.

Actually I heard that, too! I guess it's because of everyone sitting around and drinking beer. You would think it would be big holidays because there are so many family members together. Super Bowl Sunday makes sense though. In the general public (this is different in sub-groups, though), men's violence is more reported (women slapping their husbands often isn't reported), so this would make sense why men are often seen as the "abusers" all the time. Anway, men are probably more emotional about the big game than the family holidays, and probably drinking, so this kind of makes sense acutally.

Oh, gee, did you check this "fact" in any way? See links for some alternative views on this alleged fact.
I've risked my own safety in the past working to keep women away from abusive men - I have no tolerance for it, not do I have any tolerance for abuse of men by women, which also occurs frequently.
My gf and I will be watching the Superbowl together on Sunday, and we'll be fetching beers and snacks for each other.

Try not to exploit a sporting event with something that is actually serious, such as domestic violence. I agree people should get help, but we should encourage that EVERYDAY.
