No. They are just two different words that mean the same thing. Some companies prefer one word over the other.

What that guy down there describes (writing on the screen) is a Tablet PC. Not a notebook. That's different.

One of the intended differences was that a notebook usually comes with software that allows data to be written directly to the screen like you were writing on paper and touch sensitive screen. Very handy for class or meetings, or ease of use without using the keyboard and mouse. Now days make sure that is an option because that is just a branded name difference. But that is the intended use for notebooks vs laptops.

I believe that Laptops are supposed to be the same quailty and do the same things and be as powerful as desk tops but moveable. Notebooks are a little less powerful and can't quite do the same thing. If you want to replace a Desktop go laptop if you want something more portable go notebook

People who work or build computers usually call them NoteBooks, but average people most of the time call them LapTops.

i think notebooks are smaller...but not sure
