Did you get a prenuptual agreement before you got married? If you didn't do you wish that you had gotten one?

No, and I should have because when we got divorced after 18 years, I got nothing but my vehicle and some furniture.

When we got married I was a 23-year-old restaurant manager and he was a 32-year-old practicing attorney. When I had to divorce him for serial adultery, I ended up not getting anything much at all and had to basically start all over again. He was very clever throughout our marriage to cover himself, but he left me out in the cold financially.

You should get a prenup. Just because you don't have much now, doesn't mean you won't accumulate more things later. You need to have a plan as to how those things will be divided up. Also dividing up property is difficult, so the townhouse you own should be listed in the prenup as well. Hopefully you won't get a divorce, but if you do, those things can get messy, and its best to have as much worked out as possible before hand.

No, I didn't. I feel that a prenup shows that you don't have 100% faith that your marriage will last forever. And if you aren't 100% sure that it will, then why get married? I know a lot of people say that it's good for people who are rich and marrying someone who is not, but again, the basic fact remains that if you think there is even a 1% chance your relationship won't last, don't get married.

If you need a prenup to get married, that should be enough to tell you that you need NOT to be married. Marriage in itself is meant to be a life long contract between you two. A prenup is cop-out for the socially inept.

No I didn't get one and no I do not wish I had gotten one. That is a set up for failure of the marriage in the first place as far as I'm concerned. If you need a prenuptial then I would advise against the marriage altogether.

I;m not married ,now but when I do if there is a prenup that gives me all I want I would sign one, but just for pennies , NO WAY.

We didn't... We looked into getting one, and consulted a lawyer, but it sounded like everything we wanted to put in there was already covered under the state divorce laws. So we decided to save $5,000, and never got one.

if i ever get married again i will get a prenupt, because as as excited about life as we get when we marry someone, and as much as we think that marriage will be forever, often times it's not and if we have anything at all i don't think it is fair to have to pay if the marriage turns sour.

If you don't trust the person enough to trust them with your money, you shouldn't marry them in the first place. Do marriage vows mean anything to people any more?

No I didn't. And no I don't. If you can't trust the person you are marrying then you shouldn't get married in the first place.
