Yo my cousin and I have started a band called Wild Truth. It is a metal/rock band that is Catholic. We need some good lyrics and I would appreciate it if some of you guys could give me some songs. I might not use your songs but I will try them out. We really need them and if I like your song you can email me. What would be even better if you could include chords for guitar. Thanks a lot guys!!l

I play with my parish's folk group(Yeah, this is going to be like comparing Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young to say, Sonic Youth, but hey, it's music and it's Catholic)- I'd start by doing 'metallic' arrangements of some known songs and hymns-see how some of the stuff translates-

Once you get some kind of 'basic sound,' expand from there-more than once, (we're all older (50+) ex-gigging musicians in the group, and the pastor's come up to us once or twice after Mass and said things like, " I didn't hear a few notes from a (pick one) Grateful Dead/Led Zeppelin/CSNY song, did I?

I'd run with this idea-I hope it catches!

Good Luck,
Seamus

here's some lyrics

I'm a decrepit and wretched mess of an old soul,
Lifeless flesh resurrected and pulled from a cold hole.
My sanity has weakened and lessened, when I'm weeping Heaven listens in sadness,
I speak like a freakish reverend peakin' on seven hits of acid.
And if your life can be equated with the blatant need of a nasty shag,
You've likely also been decieved into believing that freedom is a flapping flag.
All this pain, life is morbid and tainted with insane passion,
And your face is a portrait painted in the same fashion.

Just give me credit when you use them.

Have you considered converting traditional hymns into mental? There are plenty to choose from in the hymn books.
