Well, I believe all babies are different and you can't compare them. However it does seem that he is below the average weight for his age. If he was premature that could be a reason. Personally, my son was born on his due date and weighed 6.3 pounds. By the time he was 5 months he was I believe 16.4 pounds. Now at eight months he is 20 pounds. He doesn't look chunky, but is 31 inches long. You might have to consult his doctor and go with what a he says. If you son is eating okay, maybe he just has a fast metabolism.

Thats normal. They should double their birth weight by the time they are 6 months old. This isn't true for every baby, just a guideline. At the age of 1, they should be triple their birth weight. My godson only weighed 17lbs (8kg) on his first birthday, as concerned as I was about him being under weight the Doctor said that was fine! Every baby will be different.

That sounds normal. My 5 month old daughter weighs 21lbs but she is also very tall and I know she is above average.
Also her is the height/weight chart like the one first person was talking about.

What is that in lbs??? My daughter was always very light and she still is. She is 10 and only weighs 62 lbs and she is perfectly healthy. Ask you doctor but some kids are just petite. As long as he is gaining weight and eating it is probably ok.

Don't know about kg's but my son was a little under 17lbs at that age. I'm sure he's just great though. Good luck with your little one!

As long as he is healthy it shouldn't matter. What does the doctor say? We are all different shapes and sizes anyway!

They have actual charts where you can graph your child's weight and height and see where they fall compared to the norm.
