It should be god for vista, but if you have windows XP already run that for at least another 6 to 12 months than get Vista because that gives microsoft time to make bug fixes for it. I work in IT and it is well known that you never buy a new operating system within the first six months, even better to wait 12

If you are doing business on your system, I would wait for a while before getting vista. It's not proven yet. If you want the latest gaming technology I would say vista would be good, but keep a backup of xp for stuff that is not supported by vista.
