You need to be aware of what is called 'contention ratios'. This means that on each BT supplied DSL line from the exchange (which every ISP uses), the line is dedicated to a certain number of users. You can get a 50:1 or 30:1 ratio which indicates the number of people who have the ability to use the line at the same time. So if you run the reports from the links supplied already, you may not get a 2Mb speed result because other people are using the line to the exchange at the same time as you do the test. If you want to get a better speed, sometimes it is better to go for a lower contention ratio than paying for a higher 'Mb line' with a speed that you may never be able to actually achieve.

Have a look at your modem configuration page, you should see your upload / download speed that your modem is receiving.
If you have a BT line, go to http://www.bt.com and search for speedtester. Run the sped test and the results will give you your connection speed, more importantly it will also give your ISP connection limit, which is what you are paying for.
