my youngest was walking at 9 months my middle child did not sit up herself untill she was 8 months and even then she was not very steady but was walking at 13 months and my eldest wassitting up himself at 8 months but did not walk untill he was 14 months, so as you can see every child will do things in their own time, please do not worry your child is normal and will do things at his own pace, take care xx

Hello, first id like to say that every baby is different. Also alot of second borns are likely to do things earlier since they have older siblings to watch and mimic. That said, my daughter will be a year on the sixth but at 7 months she was crawling well, sitting up, eating solids well, and saying mama. She was also walking by ten months and is now a pro. she had my son, who is three now, to learn from. My son at seven months was starting to walk, how scary is that. He was doing alot of stuff that most one year olds do. But he had my nephew and his friends around all the time. If your wondering whether or not your child is "on time" with skills, dont go by what other people say, like i said most kids are different.

when my daughter was 7 months, shes now 8, she could sit up on her own, once put in that position. if she were to fall she couldn't get back into the sitting position by herself. She army crawled, and still does. She was capable of crawling the correct way, but for some reason chooses not too.

All babies are different and there is an avaerage time when they do things.
I have heard that boys can sometimes be a little slower than girls developmentally and also sometimes 2nd children can be a little faster as they have someone to copy.
It doesn't sound like he has problems to me but if you are in the UK do you have access to your HV so that you can discuss your concerns? (Or whatever the equivelent is in USA or where ever you are). If they feel that there is an issue they will advise you/refer you onto the correct professional.
If he was born early you should correct his age - ie his due date is when his corrected age should start from.
Try not to worry too much - all babies do develop differently.

A seven month old should be able to sit by himself once you put him upright. He may also sit up all by himself if he gets really lucky and gets a leg bent under himself while crawling on his hands and knees, and then leans backwards...some babies can crawl a short ways at that age and some don't.A few small, wiry, babies start to pull up at that age but then can't get down . Most are starting to make sounds that mean something for bottle, momma. and daddy....If you have concerns about your child's progress, you need to get him to a health professional like your pediatrician or a well baby clinic. All babies develop at their own pace.

all babies are different. my son was a big baby (born 10lbs) so he did everything socially on time, but anything that took physical coordination he was a little late on. he is 8 months old and sitting on his own, "army" crawling, but definitely not going to sitting position on his own. and btw, he just barely started crawling a few days ago. hang in there.

My little girl is only 5 months old but I have a 7 1/2 month old girl in my in-home daycare that I run and she does the following:

Sits up without support
Rolls both ways and holds herself up on all fours but does not crawl
Feeds herself large finger foods like toast or banana
Claps hands

My baby girl could walk at just over 8 months. Her two lazy older brothers didn' t walk until they were 13 or 14 months........what I am trying to say is "all kids are different ." Don't worry too much if your baby seems a little slow, he may be quick to learn other things like speech or reading.

Every baby is different. Some can sit, some can crawl, some can't do either at this age! If you are really concerned about his development, talk to your health visitor. But I honestly wouldn't worry too much about it.

Don't worry, babies will do what they want, when they want. My first baby ( now 3) was crawling at 8 mths.
Now my second baby,he's 9 mths, he's different altogether. He sits up on his own for ages but shows absolutely no signs of wanting to crawl. It doesn't worry me because I know he'll do it it when he's ready.
Best of luck!!

My daughters could sit up at six months and just crawl at seven months. My elder daughter could walk at 11 months but the younger one was over 12 months before she could walk.
