The people that get dogs and do not take care of them are weird. I mean, before making this long-term commitment, they should ask themselves about the future. Of course, not all people are fortune tellers and can predict the future but they must have some idea.

Some don't realize how much work dogs take. Other people lose interest. The novelty wears off for others. In some cases, people get sick and cannot take care of them, or their job changes and they have to work long hours/travel and cannot take care of them.

Because they don't think about what a huge commitment it is to have a pet.
