this person i know is 59 and she's so bitter about her life that she's completely untolerable to be around.

I don't know. Being bitter is a habit that is pretty hard to quit. It must give her some reward of some kind. Sad isn't it?

All she has to do is change her mind. Not likely. People LOVE their misery so they can make other people wrong, and to blame, rather than take responsibility for having a life worth living.

I was very bitter toward my family for the rotten way they treated me because I was the youngest. But God helped me to forgive and love them. I'm afraid if she doesn't turn to God, she probably will stay that way for the rest of her life.

try and look from her point of veiw and if you can, find out what is bothering her. just 2 let u no, this may be a long (very long) time before she comes out with everything. then try to help her, with out her noticing you are doing all this on purpose
