(6-x) (6+x)
First Outside Inside Last

First = 36
Outside = +6x
Inside = -6x <---- which cancels out with the +6x to leave 0x
Last = -x^2

= 36 - x^2 or -x^2 + 36

In this kind of problem what you do is you distribute, or FOIL.

(6-x)(6+x) You multiply 6(1) by 6(2), then 6(1) by X, then -X by 6(2), then -X by X. That's what FOIL is called. Then you just combine the "like terms". What I mean by that is if you have some numbers like this: 6x - 4 + x - 5. You would combine 6x and x to get 7x and then combine -4 and -5 to get -9. Then your answer would be 7x-9. That's really what "like terms" are. Hope this helps!

Use FOIL to get
(6*6) + (6 * X) + (6* -X) + (-X * X), or 36 + 6X - 6X - X^2, or 36-x^2.
