So regardless of your political leanings, and the political rammafications of history...the 1960's were a time of cultural upheaval and along with that came an amazing movement of art and music. Where is that spirit of creation now? Sure, once again we are at war, and there are those that oppose it, and there are various social movements working toward their various goals.
But where is the music that captures the spirit of the country? And where is the counterculture that was such a huge part of the 60's? People are against the establishment again, but what do we see of it?

there's too many old people, baby boomers, for us to have a new cultural revolution. they're all holding onto the old ways.
we won't have a chance till around 2030, when most of them have stared dying off. though i predict that there will be a mass exodus of young folk from America to other countries.

Because the kids of today don't have the guts to protest. They're too self-centred. Me, me, me.
They would rather sit at home in front of a computer screen.
In the sixties, I spent time in jail protesting. If I told that to a kid off the streets today, he'd laugh in my face.
