Seagulls will harass other birds returning to their nests with food causing the birds to drop or regurgitate the food so the gull can grab it in flight. They do this with auks, particularly puffins, in the northern hemisphere.

I am familiar with southern hemisphere seals and have experience with most of them. I have never seen gulls behaving in this way. If any birds were to do it I would expect the skuas to be doing it but I haven't seen them doing it either.

The term "seagull" has no taxonomic meaning. Furthermore, no species of Gull does what you are describing...

On a TV program of possible future fauna of planet earth they created a hypothetical seal which threw up as part of a defense mechanism to avoid predation but in reality no such seal exists currently.
