Perhaps not this year.
maybe in a year or two.
They do have the pitching, but the yankees (as Ozgard said) remember what happened and will be wanting to get even.
I see them either being the wild card or Division Champions, and possibly winning the 1st round. But I dont see them getting past The yankees.
They did gain a lot of vaulable experience last year, and that will help the players.
They got a small taste, and I am sure they will hungry for more.
Look at St Louis:
2004 lost to Boston
2005 lost the NLCS
2006 they won it all.
So the Tigers might do the same.
2006 lose the WS
lose the ALCS this year
then win it all next year.
But you know what, it is finally good to see The Tigers competing! After 12 straight lsoing years (before 2006) it sure is good to see people talk about The Tigers & going to the world series in the same sentence!

Yes. Sheffield will help. The pitching will be better, and you can expect the Tigers to add a new part or two before the start of the season, a lefthanded reliever and a lefty hitter off the bench.

They Just Have To Keep It Together......
Last Year Fall-Out Was Hard.....
They Had The Pitching .......
They Just Could Not Have Good At Bat's
It Was Fun To Have Them Get There --- It Is A Long Season And As Long As They Peak At The Right Time They Have A Shot......
Let's Hope So....1984 Win Was A Long Time Ago

tiger fans make me laugh...
just because they were in it last year, doesnt mean that they will make this year. yankees will def make it because they havent won a world series in 7 yrs and been in one for 4 yrs
i dont know what this girl above me means yankees have made many world series apperance couple years straight
my prediction is that it will be the Yankees vs. Mets

They'll win the division but not the League Championship. The Yankees remember vividly what happened last year.

I think its very possible...a lot of the team was young and they have gained a lot of experience that will be valuable carrying them into and through the playoffs this year.
