well, he's only been offered a minor league deal. so if he actually signs, then he'll be in triple A until one of their other over-the-hill stars gets hurt and bernie williams can grab his walker and scoot his way towards the Yankee's bench.

I do not think that he will be a Yankee, and there is no way in hell that he is going to triple-A to begin the season. You don't send a 38 year old, 16-year veteran to the majors. The only way he would even see triple A is if the Yankees sign him late in the season, and he gets a few minor league games to get in shape. He will not begin the year in the minors as if he's a young player trying to make the majors.

My guess is that he realizes that there is no place for him on the team, and just this week he stated that he has other interests outside of baseball. Bernie is getting ready to move on and will not let himself suffer the indignity of playing for an extended time in the minors.

Yankees fans can be tough, but for a guy like Bernie Williams he will always get a pass. Bernie may not get the same "all-star" treatment by baseball fans now as he did in the past. But in New York you wouldn't know it. I'm not joking when I say Bernie Williams is a Yankee for life, and him being so beloved in New York is worth more to him than any amount of money or playing time could ever be.

No way Bernie goes to Triple A, he makes the team out of ST or he retires. However I do see him keeping in shape incase the Yankees call during the season but he doesn't sign elsewhere, he is and he will be, a career Yankee.

The latest I heard when checking up on him a few days ago was that yes he still wanted to play. He has been invited to spring training to fight for a spot but if he plays (assuming no spring training injuries) he will be starting in AAA and waiting for an injury. Whether he would do this or not for real I have no clue. In an recent interview he stated he was finding he had other things he enjoyed in life more than baseball (His Jazz guitar namely) so it seems like maybe he's preparing himself to hang it up. Many of the statemets he makes seem to point that way anyway. I seriously doubt he will go to another team as no major milestones are on the immediate horizon. I've loved watching Bernie play and think he's a top notch class act. A part of me hopes they bring him back if only for April so he can have a good send off but baseball is a busines so who knows. Whatever he does whether it be retire, try to hang with NY one more year, or go to another team I'll support him and never think of him as anything but a yankee.

According to Y sports Bernie is ready to accept a AAA deal and if he doesn't make the team retire in pinstripes as reported to Newsday.

I was also thinking that Bernie will end up playing for one of the Yankees AAA teams.

No, and it's a shame. He is a great player that still has some life in him. He isn't going to accept a minor league contract, and has acknowledged that baseball may be over for him. He now also recognizes music as a big part of his life. He probably is viewing this as a message to pursue that, and retire from baseball. Don't expect him back.

Sounds like he is going to go to Spring Training and try to win a spot, if he doesn't he likely will retire as a Yankee.

Maybe not. If he comes int spring training and doesnt make the team, I would say he'e gonna retire. He won't go down to the Minors.
