if I could sing which I can't -- I would like to be able to sing rock but the songs that seem to pop into my head seem kind of country -- maybe country with a rock feel -- the new type of country music .. but like I said I can't sing ..

I'd do Rock, with a Blues basis & a Punk attitude - and I'd probably be ignored because my stuff wouldn't fit neatly into one narrow category.
