I think what you're referring to is the country code. I'm not sure what it is, but you can call your local operator and ask for the country code to the U.S.

If it's a UK mobile, just phone as normal.

If it's a US mobile 001 should work at the start as per other US mobiles. If the number starts with a 0, drop that before dialing the rest of the number.

It appears that to dial into the US from the UK, you'd just dial 00-1-xxx-xxx-xxxx. I did run the check using a few different countries for the origin point, and that answer can change based on the local in-country phone structure. Also, if you ever need to call someone in Canada, they share the basic phone layout of the US, including the "1" country code, so calling them would work the exact same way.
