Dyshidrosis, also termed Dyshidrotic Eczema and Dyshidrotic Dermatitis, is a skin condition that is characterized by small blisters on the hands or feet. It is an acute, chronic, or recurrent dermatosis of the fingers, palms, and soles, characterized by a sudden onset of many deep-seated pruritic, clear vesicles; later, scaling, fissures and lichenification occur. The name comes from the word "dyshidrotic," meaning "bad sweating," which was once believed to be the cause. Sometimes called pompholyx (Greek for "bubble") which is generally reserved for the cases with blisters; in some countries, pompholyx refers to hand dyshidrosis.
While this condition is not contagious to others, recurrence is common and for many can be chronic.

dishydrosis is a symptom of something. do not let the doctor tell you that your allergic to water! (we are 75% water!) i tried every cream-by-prescription there was and it would only return after i was out of the medication. the doctor told me i was allergic to water.
it could be a sign of liver disease. i had this rash off and on for over 5 years until they diagnosed me with hcv. i did antiviral chemotherapy for the disease and have not had that rash since the third month of chemo. i am now post 5 years and still no return of that very bothersome rash.
