I can't find where I am supposed to insert my ScanDisk 2.0 USB Flash Drive on my Dell computer at work

I saw the front panel and saw where you plug in the headphones / port, but the problem is that my flash drive does not fit in the port (the port is a completely different shape.)

For probably the last 6 years all Dell's have had USB ports either on the back or front (sometimes under a panel with the headphone jack) Older than 6 to 8 years it may be hit or miss.

Hope this helps! If you need more help e-mail me with your model and I can tell or show you with a PDF where to find them.

What model of Dell do you have? Most newer Dells (within the past 8 years or so) do have USB ports.

An easy way to verify is to right click on My Computer, select Properties, click the Hardware tab, select Device Manager, and scan the list for USB ports. If your computer has them, they will show here.

Assuming you do, they will more than likely be on the back of your computer, below the mouse and keyboard PS/2 ports.

Newer Dells also have USB ports on the front. Dell 360s, for example, have lighter grey teardrop shaped panels near the bottom (or right if in Desktop configuration) that can be popped open to expose front-side USB ports.

Best of luck!

If its not on the front then its on the back. And if its a old computer like windows 98 or 2000 it might need a install wizard. Here is a site where you can download the software. Hopefully you know the details of the scandisk flash drive. But if its a computer at work then it should be updated to windows XP which you wont need a install drive. But look in the back of the computer. It should be a flat hole with a little white line inside if you can see that far.

There is usuraly a door on the front of the computer that you flip open to got to the USB's. Otherwise they should be hear the headphone and mic plugs, there may even be a door near the mic plugs. The door is usually near the bottom.

Otherwise just get an extension cord for a few dollars to plug into the back USB's so you can access them from the front, or wherever you want to.
