You and me both!! I hate going to see my doctor now because i just know he'll have something to say about my weight. This is my second pregnancy, will be 31 weeks on Monday and have gained 26 lbs so far. I'm trying my hardest to stay with in a healthy range but no matter what i do the weight is just piling on. I cry a lot because i feel so bad about my weight, but it's not me or my husband or friends etc... it's my doctor. By now I'm just embarrassed! I'm not worried about losing it...it's the story of my life. We should be enjoying pregnancy right?! Just do what's best for you, exercise when you can, try to eat healthy as much as you can and remember as soon as it's over with you'll have a beautiful baby to show for it. I'm having a girl, like I've always wanted, so that's what keeps me happy!!

I gained 40 pounds. Doctors like to see 25 pounds, midwives will tell you 40-50 is about right. My best advice to you would be:
Make sure that the calories you are eating are not empty calories.
Nurse your baby for at least a year (if you can) to help you lose the weight fast. I nursed and lost all of my pregnancy weight 9 months after my son was born. If you want to take a look at some good eating guidelines during pregnancy click here: http://www.blueribbonbaby.org/brewerdiet.shtml

I gained most of my pregnancy weight in the beginning months. I craved watermelon and cantelope. I was in korea at the time so no McD or BurgerKing. I walked everywhere and the people were very good to me. Although, finding pregnancy clothes for a big woman in korea is impossible. I had them made by a tailor there and wore them thru all my pregnancies. I gained 30 pounds that just refused to come off after the baby came. As far as the mood swings, sit down and have a good cry and know that it is not really about anything but your body adjusting to the changes in chemistry. Keep yourself at a centered place as much as possible. I mean get rest, eat, take care of the baby and you. Everything can wait until you get to it.

I gained 30 lbs, but don,t focus on that or you will feel worst
about the whole situation.just try to eat healthy afterward,i know
it sound easy then done, but do this: go the supermarket and
buy something healty, like maybe once a day, even if ti,s a apple
then gradually increase until you get use to it because you
can still have a success for pregnancy,no matter what the
doctor say,and just eat aliilte bit of the junk food, and add healthy
snack with it that,s all because maybe you are not use to it.
think of the baby and just let that be your goal, welcome
to the club mommy!

It would be good if you didn't gain any more. It might not be possible. If you eat the foods that you need to eat to be healthy and try to cut out or way down on sweets and a lot of rich foods. The baby will get what he needs from you anyway. He won't starve. You don't need to starve either. Make the best choices that you can for both of you. You may still gain some even if you eat better foods but the baby is getting bigger every day. That is supposed to be that way. If you have any questions or concerns talk to your doctor who is going to delivery the baby. I gained 17-18 pounds with each of my babies.
Good Luck.

dont feel bad if you gain more weight than the doctor recommends... i think that whole 25 pound thing is a joke!! ha with my first baby i gained 55 pounds, and i am at 36 weeks with baby #2 and have already gained 60!
and i did lose all the weight from the first pregnancy, although it took over a year and a half. and then of course, as soon as i got back to my starting weight, i got pregnant again!
dont worry if you gain a little extra. the important thing is your baby's health! congrats on your little one on the way!

Well, just to make you feel better, I was a few pounds over a normal weight b4 conceiving, and now at 32 weeks, I have already gained 30lbs. OOPS!
My dr is always getting on me, but that is okay for me, because I have not had any complications and my baby is very healthy too--right size, strong heartbeat, nothing wrong at all.
I think as long as you and you're baby are healthy, its okay to gain a little extra weight--it just means you'll have lbs to lose later.
Good Luck! and cheer up!

During my first pregnancy I gained 60 pounds. I'm 23 weeks w/ #2 and have gained about 25 pounds so far. Doctors recommend you gain 25-35 pounds if you are average weight before pregnancy. Slim women need to gain 35-45 pounds, and overweight women can safely gain 15-25 pounds with her doctor's approval.

I lost 17 lbs then gained 30lbs, so I really only gained 13 lbs with the first one. I weigh now what I did before giving birth so I hope not to gain more than 20 lbs w/this one :) I'm 14 wks & have only gained 1 lbs so far.
Try not to worry to much about it.
