I've always heard that it's ok to wash bras in the washer (even underwire), but hang them up to dry. Don't dry them in the dryer.

Yes. I'm with you on this one - I couldn't be bothered to hand wash them either. I have a lot of expensive bras and they nearly all the labels say to hand wash them. I just chuck them in the washing machine with everything else. I put them in one of those mesh bag thingys that you can get from supermarkets etc for delicate laundry. I use these bags for two reasons. 1. to limit damage to the bra and 2. to stop any catches or wires from the bra knackering the machine up. I think these labels are on the bras more to cover the company than anything. It's just like when you buy garments that have 'dry clean only' labels on them but it is made of a fabric that is machine washable. go for it and chuck it in the machine but you may wish to chose a delicate cycle just to be on the safe side. I don't do mine on a delicate wash because I never have enough delicates for a full load so I just put them on the same wash as everything else but colour sorted of course. cyncity!! are you having a bad day or are you always so goddam rude!!!!

Get a mesh bag for your delicates and put them in the washer but not in the dryer. The bag keeps them from getting tangled and stretched out in the washer... the heat of the dryer is bad for the elastic in bras, so that is why you need to hang dry them. You can get these bags in the lingerie department of stores like Macy's (and other places too I'm sure).

Wash them in the washer, but hang dry. The heat is terrible for the elastic!

You can get a plastic ball for the bra, that is being advertised on tv. Otherwise, just close the clasp on the bra and put it into a garment/lingerie bag - these bags are made specially for washing your undergarments in the washer. And then wash in warm or cold water, in the gentle cycle.

When i think of it (which isn't often) I put them in a small zippered lingerie bag. It is a small mesh bag with a zipper that I originally bought to wash baby socks which are tiny and always get lost. Seems to work pretty well and the straps and underwires don't get mangled by the agitator.

You can get a lingerie mesh bag at Walmart for $3-4. It's on the aisle with the hangers, laundry sorters, etc. Then hang to dry, ALWAYS! The heat deteriorates the elastic.

Hand washing a bra takes 5 minutes. You can even soak them in soapy water while you bathe. They last longer.Get a friend to help you with time management and multi-tasking. Have a great year.

You just hit my pet peeve, bras and pantyhouse being thrown in washer with my Tee shirts and undershorts when she sees me washing.
Pantyhose hose would get tangled around my Tee shirts and bra hooks get hooked Tee shirts.
AND SHE WOULD NEVER BE AROUND TO HELP UNTANGLE THEM!
In self defense I finally got her some of those laundry bags for washing lingerie and pantyhouse in at Wal Mart. They have worked so far. Not only do they stop her bras and pantyhose from getting tangled around my clothes but also keeps them from tangling up on themselves.
