While he was a great president for our country he won the Cold War by bankrupting the USSR. Ending it through diplomacy would have earned him the Nobel Prize, doing it by ruining a country financially is generally frowned upon.

I don't know? How come he never won a Golden Globe? Or a People's Choice Award? He was an actor before a politician. Again, I don't know.
Though as for the Nobel Peace Prize, its probably because while he was president during the fall of communism, he wasn't directly responsible for it.

Because he was a war mongering fool who just happened to be lucky enough to be President at the same time that the USSR and Gorbachev in particular realised the arms race was crazy.
