Basically, Republicans believe in taking responsibility for yourself and your actions, and Democrats believe that other people should fix all their problems. Go ahead, analyze any issue and you can see how this works.

You are asking for an answer that would be too long! Try this: Pick a candidate from each party (Democratic and Republican), go to their respective web sites and read about their beliefs. That should give you the difference between the two.

Republicans believe in small government, low taxes, increased military strength and big business. In general, Democrats oppose these ideas. That's the basic party platform, but not every politician adheres to these stereotypes.

Their basic beliefs are to retain power, get as much money as you can for yourself, raise taxes, get more power, defeat political enemies, badmouth other candidates and basically be seen as a good public servant.

The Dems are more likely to be liberals and reps are more likely to be conservative .But also dems can be conservative and reps liberals.
