I have many experiences with the number. I know my classmates would remember me when they'd found out there is a movie that was actually about it. The very day I'd stepped on the age 23 there were several things I could not understand but the number 23 always showed up to me and catch my attention in any form (like seeing the car plate number, digital clock, street number, book pages, etc.) as if telling me something or rather warning me. Whenever I disregard the warning I am always in the scene of some little accidents or chaos.

I am not a numerologist so I don't take this number to mean something or to be the reason for anything. But sometimes some number could mean so much about you.

I am so obsessed of 23 sometimes that I'd discovered that 2007 is in the year of the pig. I am born in the year of the pig, too and so 1923. And how would it mean to me if 2007 is the exact copy of the calendar 1923?

Whatsoever, 23 brought me an equal quantity of luck and bad luck.

The number 23:

- It was Michael Jordans number. Throuhout his career, he won 23 awards, including 2000 ESPY Athlete of the Century, 2000 ESPY Male Athlete Decade Award (1990's), 2000 ESPY Pro Basketballer Decade Award.

- Baskin Robins introduced it's 23rd flavor on January 3, 1972 ( 1/03/1972 - 1 + 3 + 1 + 9 + 7 + 2 = 23 ).

- Maine first started on a bill to become the 23rd State of the United States on Febuary 10, 1820 ( 2 + 10 + 1 + 8 + 2 + 0 = 23 ). The bill was then signed by the president March 03, 1820.

- Bostwana Africa is located at Latitude 23, longitude 23 and became a fully independant country in 1967 ( 1 + 9 + 6 + 7 = 23 ).

- On Novenber 23, 1985 (1 + 9 + 8 +5 = 23 ), Gunmen hijack Egypt Air Flight 648 while flying from Athens to Cairo. When the plane lands in Malta, Egyptian commandos storm the hijacked jetliner, but 60 people died in the raid. 23 people are still missing.

- On December 8, 1976 ( 23 days before 1977 ) The Eagles release the album Hotel California. In 1980, the band split but later reunited in 1994 ( 1 + 9 + 9 + 4 = 23 ).

I could probably go on the internet and look up some more, but this just proves that some people have to much time on their hands. Theres nothing special about 23 by the way, I could have done this with any number and gotten the same results ( different events of course ). My information is legit by the way...

Again, all this hype about 23. Phooey!

First of all 9/11/2001: if you add up all the digits you get 9+1+1+2+0+0+1 = 14. The promoters say, boo hoo, you added 1 and 1 instead of using 11, to which I say, boo hoo hoo, you added 2,0,0 and 1 instead of using 2001. Then the sum would have been 2021 instead of 23 !

Now Kurt Cobain born 1994, died 1967. Both years add up to 23. Am I supposed to go WOW? Here is a list of numbers in the 20th century that add to 23; 1949, 1958, 1967, 1976, 1985, 1994 (like every 9 years). Anyone who was born and died during these years have the same coincidence as Kurt Cobain - Wow?

Samuel Morse who invented the Morse code was born in 1791 and died in 1872. He produced the first working telegraph in 1836. All three of these years add up to 18. We should be celebrating 18 instead of 23.

Would not the speed that they were walking determine the amount of time for the Salt March to occur. I mean walk slow, finish in 24 days, walk faster get there in 22 days - no big deal.

William Shakespear born april 23 1564 died april 23 1616. Wow, the chance of any who was born on the 23rd, dying on the 23rd is like 1/30. Guess what, if you are born on the 12th, chance of you dying on the 12 is like 1/30. Wow, same coincidence as Shakespeare ?

1/30 of all the 23 years olds that die were born on the 23rd. (River Phoenix)

Julius Caesar stabbed 23 times. Amadou Diallo shot at 41 times. Hmmm, must be magic in the number 41.

Plane crashes on Feb. 3rd. All planes crash on Feb 3rd - No. Most planes crash on Feb 3rd - No. Greater number than usual - No. But again special number 23?

Movies opens on 23rd. Chance of that happening about 1/30.

I wish I was 23 years old again, that's about it. Come to think of it, 22 or 24 would fine too.

The only number that seems "magical" to me is 9. Take any number multiplied by 9 and add up the digits and you'll always get nine or another number divisible by 9.

9 X 2 = 18; 1 + 8 = 9
9 X 3 = 27, 2 + 7 = 9
9 X 111 = 999; 9 + 9 + 9 = 27; 2 + 7 = 9.

It always works, and you can't do that with any other single digit number.

I wouldn't want to 9 years old or even 18 years old again, but I guess 27 would be okay.

You may be right that all those events have something in common but there are so many other things that are just as easily non-related. You can pick and choose from facts in history and then present them to back up your theories.

What if 9/11 had been 9/12? What would you say then? Would you suddenly claim 24 has some special ability or would you discard it, claiming your theory with only one less example?

Although I must admit that I instinctly jumped to shoot down your examples (human nature would you call it?) but I agree there are some examples that could prove that 23 is important. But what about the other numbers? What if I proved there were many coincidences with the number 2?

Something that I inadvertently found out though, that I thought was so odd because I had never thought to add it up before I read this question, is that my birth date (year, month, date) adds up to 23. So I have more reason to believe that this 23 is amazing (pshaw, how couldn't it be, it's related to me :P) but I'm still reluctant because human history is so long and there are so many dates.

Humans all try and see meaning in things that may have no meaning beyond the one presented. Even if I don't try, I still have suspicions -hopes- that there is a meaning to this, to our lives.

This could be some ploy to promote the movie -smart marketing- to get people to discuss and completely confirm that 23 has absolutely, positively NO MEANING. But wait...they will still be curious asking themselves; What if? And they will line into the theatre, hoping for something. At least that's my opinion and that's only one out of hundreds.

Oh my god. The movie 23 about the number 23 opens on the 23rd of February? Isn't that wierd. I guess it is true! 23 must control all our lives, the universe and everything!!

And there's more! The question about the number 23 was posted by the user 23, advertising the film 23, which is abouth the number 23, which opens on the 23rd! And the question was posted on Friday, the fifth day of the week, which is the sum of two and three! And 2/2/2007, 2x2x2x7=56, and 5 is 2+3, and 6 is 2x3!

Because there are forced coincidences we have to believe that an arbitrary number controls are lives! Repent! Repent!!
