Given that this question is in the alternative medicine category, I gather you're not looking for the quickest drug. It depends on the cause and severity of your depression. There are the drug options, or one can take St. John's Wort and a B-complex vitamin. however, it's always a good idea to get a physical work-up and diagnosis from your regular care provider first. Then consult with a Naturopath for the alternative solutions. Also, any mood-altering substance (legal, please) has been shown to have a great and longer-lasting effect at relieving depression when combined with regular therapy to address the underlying issues and causes. Of course, it may also be Seasonal Affective Disorder, when you actually don't get enough light. This can be cured with special lamps, but again, should be diagnosed by your doctor. A change in diet and activity level can also improve mood.
Depression is a serious problem and can affect all aspects of your life. Find a doctor of some kind who's willing to work with you to get you back to optimal performance. Good luck.

For alternative treatments, Meghan O is right about the St. Johns Wort and B-complex, and seems to have sound advice all-around.
I would add that these are just treatments, not cures. These are worth a try, but if they dont work, professional treatment is the best way to go. I personally don't really put much stock in psychotherapy, but some people have been treated quite successfully this way. However, medical doctors (your general practitioner or psychiatrists, who are MD's, psychologists are not) could also have tips about such things as diet, supplements, and of course, prescription drugs if its clinically diagnosed.

Depression is a state of mind. its what I call information overload.
1. select carefully what you want in life and focus on that on or at most 2 things that interest you most.
2. Don't expect too much too fast, you will get depress. best is expect nothing but give it your best input.
3. walk for at least 2 hours each day
do the above and in a short time you will be happy

You can only find a way to manage it. not cure it. Be carefukl of any medicine you take what works for one does not work for another.

there is no cure for depression if you have reoccurring depression. you can take drugs or you could exercise and get your brain chemicals happy. you can do something that makes you feel better bout yourself.
but if you don't think you're depressed you probably aren't most people who are depressed know they're depress.
