This question probably sounds really stupid. But hey...I'm still learning.

Are there any symptoms at all I should look for within such a short time frame? Or is it fairly futile to test sooner than at least 2 weeks after a potential conception date?

2 weeks after potential conception aka 2 weeks after you ovulate aka the day your missed period is due is the earliest you can test with an HPT, one week after ovulation is when you can have a blood test done to accurately find out if you are pregnant.

1 week after potential conception is usually too early for a test. When an egg is fertilized your body starts producing a particular type of hormone. That hormone is what a pregnancy test is looking for and there's usually not enough of it in your system to get an accurate reading until 2 weeks after conception.

Many home pregnancy tests claim to be able to give accurate readings as much as 5 days before a missed period, but most doctors still like to wait until 2 weeks after possible conception to do a test.

In the mean time, if you are pregnant you may start to feel tired and even start having some morning sickness. Your breasts may also start to feel tender. If you don't have any of these symptoms that doesn't mean that you're not pregnant, but many women start to feel these things a few days before being able to get an accurate reading on a home pregnancy test.

Yes. If you test like a week after conception, then the hcg will not be enough to test postive and even if you were pregant then you wouldn't know it that early. For symptoms, at least 2 weeks, but sometimes you don't have symptoms until like 4 weeks. But everybody's body is different and some don't even have symptoms at all.

Yes it is too early. Wait 5 weeks from the first day of your last period.

Go to the doc 8 weeks after your missed period, and they will do a urine/blood test.

There is no way to know until the test comes out positive, and that can sometimes change before your first doc appt.

Try not to think so much about it. You will drive yourself nuts wondering and thinking. Go ahead and eat like you are pregnant. Don't take any other meds except for tylenol, and don't drink alcohol/don't smoke.

I know what you are going through. The 2 week wait is horrible. Not that it is recommended, i am currently 6 weeks preg. and I took a test 9 days after ovulation and got a faint faint line then two days later i retested and the line would appear darker. Try checking your temperature mine has been elevated ever since I ovulated, that's how I just knew I was pregnant. Good luck!!

Test now can detect pregnancy pretty early but not that early. Plus, a lot of people miscarry when medically they were pregnant but the pregnancy wasnt strong enough to survive. Waiting is hard whether you want to be or do not want to be pregnant but it is for the best.

I got crampy like I was gonna get my period - but never did. And I got really tired... like exhuasted. WIthin 2 wks I was feeling breast tenderness and being light-headed.

still to early because it takes about 6 days for implantation to begin. Try a little closer to 12 days after you ovulated or right around when you are expecting your period. There has to be enough HCG in your urine to get even a faint positive.
Here's a link that shows exactly the process that your body goes through when making a baby.
Hope you have high speed internet.

In theory some EPT's can detect pregnancy that early, but a false negative is fairly likely. 2 weeks will give you more reliable results.

You need to wait till your perios is due. The early tests that test 4 days before your period is due ar 63% accurate. So wait till your period is due to test.
