Gong, While it is true that all plants need certain chemicals to grow well, miracle grow is made for terrestrial plants and not aquarium plants. Also as noted it is very harmful to your fish.

One thing you might want to do is call several local pet stores and ask them if they sell plant equipment and go to the one that seems to know the most about plants. If you have had your tank more than 6 months, get a new light bulb. Get one made for a planted tank and that should help quite a bit. Also ask about iron supplements for your tank. Most of the major things your plants need are already present in your tank and in enough supply. Iron can be the real exception. Be ready to discribe your tank in detail. The size, filtration, fish, plants, water chemistry ( in fact, taking some water from your tank with you would be a good idea) and they can help you pick out what you need to encourage good plant grow. Now, until you can do that, do a web search and visit several sites about aquarium plants and read as much as you can about them and how to keep them. That will help you know when the shop is giving you good advice and help you know what to expect from a shop and from your plants.

Best of luck with them!

Miracle grow will poison everyone... Its made to acidify ground soil and withstand rain. It would be like filling the tank with pepsi.

Here are your nutrients In a rough order of importance...

co2
Light
Nitrogen / Nitrate
Iron
Potash / potassium
calcium
Trace Elements

co2 & light are the main ones... Most plants only need trace ammounts of the others unless you've got the co2 & light sky high.

Please don't do that. It will kill your fish.
If you go to the pet store, they should sell some aquatic plant food. It's liquid and it comes in a yellow plastic container (sorry, the name escapes me).
That will boost your plant growth...but be sure to only add the suggested amounts for the size of thank that you have. The product can sometimes throw your levels off balance.
Good luck!

go to a local fish shop and ask them what they have to help your plants and things. Picking anything that is ment for out side will kill everything in your tank.
