i have a male friend who i recently reconnected with after amny years.at first he was calling me alot and now its been a month and he only calls but like 1 time a week, which i feel isnt enough if he cared anything about our friendship.we discussed it and he just blames it on work which i think is just an excuse because if he found the time before he can find it now.i find his lack of care very insulting and what bothers me even more is that whenever he does care enough to call hes asking to hang out with me but i dont feel he deserves to spend time with me.im extremely confused by what to do everyone says they think he lieks me but for some reason i dont see it,im contemplating cutting him off completely does that seem like a good idea?

Why not? You aren't getting any pleasure out of the relationship right now. Go have some fun elsewhere. If he shows up, be sure to let him know that you have a life too.

You have more learning, growing, and maturing to do. You're putting way too much pressure on this whole thing. Why should you be confused? What kind of friends are you? He may have called you a lot at first because there was a lot of catching up to do on both your parts and now there isn't. Calling you once a week, shows he care enough about the friendship to keep in touch. How often do you call him? I hope it's not every day. Reguardless of who the person is, they can't be calling you everyday and giving you all their attention. They should have positive things in their life that prevents them from calling you every single day. And, you have positive things in your life that prevents you from expecting their calls every single day. You're not so special that if you don't allow someone to spend time with you, it's a punishment to them. They'll just hang out with someone else who'll appreciate their time and company. Friendships grows and developes. Friendships takes time and patience. There's no need rushing things and demanding your way and having a bad attitude. That'll only deteriorate the friendship. Cutting him off doesn't seem like a good idea, it sounds like a selfish idea. Look in a mirror and examine yourself so you can be a better friend.

Friendships do not function on a calendar, and "if he cared he would..." sounds like you are some kind of control freak. Why don't you chill and let him have his own life, live your own life, and talk/hang out when you both have time? When he does call he's asking to get together, what is wrong with that?? that is what the phone is for, making plans and exchanging information. Seriously, calm down...

Are you serious? People have lives. It sounds like you are being way to demanding. If he calls and wants to hang out, he is offering his friendship. Why would you feel now that he is undeserving of your time. Maybe he thinks you are too clingy and need to get a life. If you were a real friend you wouldn't even be contemplating "Cutting off" a friend. It sounds like you need to re-evalute what kind of friend you are.

It sounds more like you need to grow up. Life gets in the way. At least he tries.
