I think it is amazing that someones insight and vision can, by combining a story with a scene with the right music, evoke such emotions. Movie makers are lucky to have this gift of creativity, dont u agree?

Some movies will do that.

A good director, coupled with a good screenplay, actors, and musical score can create something that transcends mere 'entertainment' and can leave a lasting effect on anyone who watches it.

Personal taste is always a factor, but there are some movies that cut through all the B.S. and can leave the viewer changed forever.

It depends how good the movie is & also on what type of movie. For eg. The Hills Have Eyes is an excellent horror flick for people who like to scare themselves sometimes. I love that feeling this type of movie gives me. THe best way to watch such movies is in the dark.

Alone! *evil laugh*

Now a dif type of movie, say Harry Potter, is a fun fantasy type of story & it literally has a "magical" feeling about it. LOL

One more:

On the other hand, the movies of Star Trek to me make me feel good about the future cuz of all that technology in there that is being developed as I type this answer.

Some movies can, but some movies, especially if badly made, are downright depressing.

For example, Pulp fiction really sucks you into the plot. Yet Tarantino;s "Kill Bill" was just bloody awful
