Alot of good defenders out there that could...Shawn Marion of the Suns, Shane Battier of the Rockets, Dwayne Wade of the Heat. Players like Dirk and Kobe shoot so much that it is nearly impossible to keep them from scoring 20 or more a night, but what you have to look at is their FG%. A good defender will make them earn those points, and make them miss alot of shots, limiting the number of attempts for teammates.
In response to the first guy's mentioning of Wade shutting down Dirk, that is total BS, because Wade plays the guard spots and Nowitzki was at power forward. They didn't even guard eachother. Also Iverson, despite being an amazing ball handler and offensive player, is a very questionable defender so that isn't true either.
Wade did school Kobe earlier this year though, completely shut him down defensively and unloaded for 30+ points in a Heat/Lakers game. Unfortunately for me though, since Kobe is on my fantasy team.

1st of all I have to say that as great as these two players are I hate them both. I hate Dirk cuz I hate Dallas and I just dont like Kobe. Anyway, though in Dirk's case I would say that Dwayne Wade pretty much took care of that in the Finals. Dwayne Wade single handedly won the Finals for the Heats and Dallas had and still has so much more talent than the Heats. Gary Payton and Shaq are old, they should probably retire soon. I don't really know about Kobe because he is a monster but I mean there are tons of players who could play against him, such as Lebron James, Dwayne Wade, Allen Iverson etc. and it wouldn't be a guarantee that he'd beat them all in a blowout.

kg, amare, my boy arenas, d-wade, lebron. individually kg is much better than dirk but his team sucks. if you put kg on the mavs they would be even better than they already are.

i believe that while he has developed into one of the best players this year, give him a year or two to polish his skills and gilbert arenas could take them on.
