this church wanted to supply food and a place for the young people to enjoy the Super bowl game on a large screen T. V. N.F.L. is trying to stop this due to some legal rules. I think it stinks. they bring in millions and millions of dollars from so many areas and crowds are gathered in bars across our nation for the game and they are lousy enough to try and stop a church group from giving the young paople a place to gather and watch a game.

I think that's just wrong! when i was in school, my church would have the youth gather in a room at church, show the super bowl on a projection screen, and serve soup and chili. we called it "soup-er bowl". we had a bible study during half time instead of watching the silly half time show. it was great. i always looked foreword to the super bowl, even though i could care less about football. i don't see how the NFL could possibly prevent it. or why they would want to.

It makes no sense. Does it really matter how big the TV screen it's being shown on is? According to the copyright law, any screen over 55 inches is not permitted. It's a stupid law. What should matter is if any money was being made from it, such as charging admission for it, etc. Apparently this is NOT the case here. It was supposed to be something for the church members and families or whoever else just to gather and watch the stupid game. Well, since the NFL thinks that they can tell us where, with whom to watch the game with AND how big my TV should be, I will NOT be watching the game, nor will I EVER watch another NFL game, go to an NFL game or buy ANY NFL product again. If everyone adopted this attitude, they would lose precious advertising money, as well as money from merchandise sales or anything else. If you think it stinks, I say do something about it. I know I'm dreaming, but it would be nice to see everyone's TV's on a different channel this year as a form of protest and hear all the bigshots cry about low ratings.

My time will be better spent by watching Spongebob on Nick-W with my 3-year-old daughter at 6:00

I have no idea what the rules are that the NFL are talking about. I think it's crazy that there is even an issue. People watch the super bowl from just about anywhere and this is the first time I have heard of anyone ever having a problem. The entire entertainment world is money motivated and this is no surprise to anyone. I'm sure they will find a way for the church to pay a fee in order to view the game. This of course is not right, but then again they have never had any morals. Thank you.

There is a difference between public and private use of broadcasts, and the policy is posted at the beginning of every game. A bar can be fined for not obtaining permission. Usually this is covered by having a commercial cable account which costs more because it covers the licensing fees involved.

Undoubtably this was poorly handled in this case. If the church had asked for permission first it probably would have been granted. As it stands the NFL is merely protecting its broadcast rights. It really does not have a choice there.

Being a church does NOT get you around licensing restrictions.

If this is indeed true, then I think the best answer would be for people who care about youth and church going people to just not watch the game at all. This of course should be followed by letters to the No Fun League telling them why. Those people only care about the almighty dollar and to them fans are only a way to get more dollars.

The church should not have made a big deal about it and just went ahead and had there superbowl party anyway. just like someone else said what is the difference between them having young people over to watch or me having my friends over. Is the church charging admission? this could be the problem.
Also if it is a mosque then i say to heck with those muslim scum bags (used lower case letters on purpose) because most of us REAL americans dont have many nice things to say about them.

I don't see a problem with it.
Why is it different from me having my friends over to watch it?
