If the evidence to support man made global warming is so convincing and accurate, then why do the proponents of this theory attack every attempt at critical review of their models so vociferiously?Surely if they can prove their findings there is nothing to fear from outside scientists who seek to discredit their findings because in the end the facts will speak for themselves? Science is now and always has been about answering questions and scientific theories are revised often as new evidence becomes available, but there can be no honesty in science if one side is going to declare themselves to have the only right answer and then attempt to stifle all other debate.

Before you start ranting on this. Let me just say I do support conservation, alternative energy sources, pollution control and other enviromental efforts. However, the global warming debate is about money and control, not saving the environment.

NONAME: Did you even read the details of the question? My whole point is that debate on issues is good, but adherents to global warming theory do not appear to want debate on the issue in my opinion.

Danielle: I am not a Republican, I am an independent albeit a conservative one. Further, if the mean temperature jumps 7-11 degrees in a couple of months you can forget Al Gore's 15 years we are all doomed before the end of this one. If you are going to attack me at least try to do it with reasonable logic.

KERMIT M: I don't think you would find anyone who would disagree that polluting the planet is a bad idea and definitely harmful to us for many reasons. That is one of the great misconceptions people who believe in Global Warming try convey about people who have questions. That they don't care about the planet. This is just not true. You can be environmentally friendly and still question the science which is being rammed down our throats without proper evidence.

Good post! Exactly! You never hear the same rantings if someone claims the sun isn't 93 million miles from the earth because anyone can prove that it is.

However no one can prove that man is causing global warming. There has to be a vote by a 'consensus' group to say that it is man made. Consensus science is politics, not science.

Remember it only takes one man with the facts to trump the consensus.

I get equally frustrated at both sides. One extreme side keeps worrying that GW will bring on the end of the World. And the other side using Al Gore as an arguement. How many times do we have to hear his movie was a farce and he didn't deserve his Oscar or a piece of the Nobel Peace prize. (Now that I think of it, he did deserve the Oscar, since all movies are made up anyways and as for the Nobel Peace prize? Only time will tell on that one, but so far I feel more harm has come than good.) The problem is we are focusing on the wrong issues. We need to start looking at the things we need to do now. (I'm not talking about what individuals need to do, but what we need to do as a World.) 1.) Move people away from the Rain Forest and protect them. And hopefully find away to start replanting what was lost. - This to me is the only thing that governments should do. All other businesses that I've checked out on the internet over the last few months have been working on alternatives fuels and some even appear to have been doing it far longer than people realize. - Believe me the private sector is more efficient when running things than the government ever will be.

Science as with any kinds of study is only as good as the one studying and finding the answers. Global warming in the 1970's was just the opposite it was global cooling and with it every plant animal and person would be frozen leaving nothing.

Its the same with Evelotion vs: a creator. No one really knows and we may never know this answer as with Science its just a theory that we crawled out of the seas becoming monkey's then evolving into man.

I don't know enough about the science to really debate it one way or the other. I do know enough to understand that man made pollutants are hurting us and common sense tells you that. I drive by the refineries in Tulsa every day going to and from work. Believe me that is some noxious stuff spewing out into the air. Is it causing global warming...I don't know. Is it bad for us...yep pretty much.

If the articles that I've read recently are correct, it is because many of the scientists who have uncovered the effects man has on the acceleration of global warming have been themselves stifled over the years. Many have found their articles over the years edited to the point where it seems like mankind has had nothing to do with global warming at all. Recently, even NASA scientists are claiming that the current administration has been trying to silence them.

Now they are to the point where they are kicking, screaming, jumping up and down...

Seriously...you watch any debate. Political, scientific, religious...it gets to the point where they end up screaming at each other and calling each other names. That leaves the rest of us to figure out who pushed who first.

Below you'll find just one of thousands of articles I found on the subject.

Why have so many people been put in jail or killed or made fun of because their ideas are different? That is how humans, and many other animals deal with different ideas.

Being in the minority does not make you wrong. It also does not make you right.

There are always those who will challege ANY idea, no matter how much it is proven. I remember one guy who was telling us how adding floride to the water would poison us all.

Intrigued, I did research on his therory. He turned out to be simply a radical nut case. Hey, to this day, there are many who deny that cigarettes cause cancer. They smoke and they don't have cancer, therefore smoking does not cause cancer. Terrible logic.

Easy... Because they are scientists, and if they are still working on the models... They need to find the flaws. Did you not take a science class? Do you not know the scientific method. They need to test, test, test, Especially working with something such as global warming.

When you are selling something to the world... You make it perfect by beating up your own ideas. Who is the best to criticize? I say the proprietor.

Bryan, son of Adam, you are truly wise. Most would have never supposed the global warming debate was an attempt to cripple the economy of your country. That thinking has great merit.

Another reason Republicans are the devils.
They even doubt global warming. WTF???
Let's see what you say when this summer, as expected, it will be about 7-11 degrees warmer than last year. and keep rising each year....and then, when florida is underwater in about 10 years.
You people amaze me.
