If inhaled talcum powder can cause inflammation of the airways, pneumonia, and even death. Talc particles can move through the reproductive system and causes tumors on ovaries. It's been investigated since the 1970's. Do not use talc on anyone, ever.
No baby needs talcum powder. Change their diapers freuqently and you will never need anything for diaper rash, either. None of my kids ever had diaper rash, be prepared to change their diaper frquently and have lots of diapers around. Buy in bulk.

It's been shown that when using baby powder, the powder that gets in the air can be inhaled by the infant. This is the only reason I know of.

Its not good if they inhale it because their little lungs cant really filter good and it can clog the porous surface of lungs. Just dont pour it on them!
I always put a little corn starch (same bottle as baby talc but its cornstarch) in my hand and then put it on my baby - avoiding the face.

Some people use too much and the baby inhales the powder and it is not good for their lungs. It is fine to use it, but people just use way too much and the baby breathes it in.

Hey, you're fine. Baby powder is actually very good for acne problem skin as this is what it does - to soothe skin rash. It's OK for Baby, surely it is for adult. There are no side effects have been found so far.

Its a problem if they inhale it. Where do you want to put it? My pediatrician said told me not to use it in the diaper. The best thing to use on the skin is vasoline. This truely repels wettness.
If you want the baby to smell fresh then I reccoment rubbing it in your hand then applying it on the baby skin. I have alot of talc but don't use it. If I want to smell something nice on my baby then I found that baby oil in the gel form works wonders and it keeps her skin soft and lasts alot longer then regular baby oil.

Don't use it...the baby can inhale it.
As long as you keep the diapers changed, the baby won't have problems with moisture, and won't need talc.

The powder is dusty and will "sit down" in the lungs

well it can cause a yeast infection in both boys and girls if you use to much too often.honestly i don't even use it. all you have to do is when you change them wipe them and they will be fine. baby powder is not a necesity, it's a preference.

I think it can get into their lungs if you use too much. I used it sparingly for a couple of diapers but didn't like it because it became cakey and hard to wipe up.
