Because being a godparent implies spirituality, you really should stick to something along those lines. A nice cross (or crucifix if you're Catholic) for her wall in her bedroom always fits. A really nice Bible with an inscription would work as well. A cross pendant that can be put away until the child is old enough to take care of it is thoughtful. Depending on how religious the parents are, you could also find something depicting the little children with Jesus or the guardian angel looking over small children. If you go to a Christian (or Catholic) bookstore, they can also give some really great ideas that you would have never thought of!

A traditional gift is getting the baby an elegant white leather bound bible. It is a gift that she can keep her whole life, whether or not she is religious when she is older.
Of course, get the bible that is correct for the religious views of the parents, so it could be a Koran, or a spiritual textbook. Just get the nicest most elegant version and it will be passed on for generations, and can be a source of guidance and tradition. Then in the front cover of the book there is a place for her name, and you can add personal details of her birth- date/weight- and a kind message.

Things we have received. We have 3 girls.
1. A small gold cross on a chain. I figure they won't wear it much now, but when they are older you can put it on a charm braclet (so you could go silver too!)
2. A precious moments baptism/christining figurine. They are sold at halmark stores.
3. If you go to a religious store they have so many things there. We recieved bibles that they could carry on their wedding day, a picture frame to frame their baptism/christining picture, or if they are catholic a children's rosary.
4. Oh we also received a gold locket that was engraved with love from the sender. My 7 yr. old now wears it on special occasions.
Good Luck.

As Godmother you are supposed to guide her in the Christian life.
A traditional gift is lovely, a simple cross on a chain, a gold child's christening bracelet, a white covered bible, or a children's bible or a good silver photo frame.
You are going to have plenty of time to buy her all the original gifts though out her life for Birthdays Christmas and treats.

There were so many woodworking plans with this collection and you will not believe this but there are over thousands plans in the one package deal. Go here https://tr.im/Sm82i
This is really something to find that many all together. For someone like me who is just really starting to get involved with woodworking this was like letting me loose in a candy store and telling me I could have anything I wanted. That was my dream when I was a kid.

I'm starting a hope chest for my daughter. If you have wood skills, make a nice chest for her to pack for her future. The tradition has a girl embroider linens and make items for her future wedding and home.
Or, if you're not craft inclined, my step-mother gave my daughter a beautiful embroidered bonnet. She wore it as a baby. Then it unfolds and she uses it as a handkerchief at her wedding. It's very symbolic, heart-warming and nostalgic.

I really wanted somebody to buy my son a cremerative coin set from the royal mint for his birth - sadly nobody did, well I did as I didn't want him to miss out.
Very reasonably priced.
I also go with what one person said about a lovely blanket (handmade if you have time) with the child's name and dob on it.

you should get her something that they can cherrish as she grows up. You should get her a plaster cast set their for taken prints of their hands an feet as as constant reminder of how small she was. My son got one as a present an it was the best one he recieved as its something they will keep forever. Its great to look at it and it brings back wonderful memories of when he was so small
