Well frankly, you cannot just FIND some bc pills to take. You've got to either go to Planned Parenthood or your doctor to get a prescription. Most likely you'll need a pelvic exam/pap smear, so that would take 2 weeks or so to get those results back.
It is NOT HEALTHY, no matter what anyone says, to not have a period! You should have at least four periods a year for your reproductive system to not get screwed up by prescription drugs.
NO female wants to deal with their period. But periods come with being female so we deal with it.

It's very likely that you will be able to stop your period from starting if you were to take a b.c. pill. However, if it's *just* about to start and you take a b.c. pill, you may have some light spotting or one day of bleeding and then it would stop.
Just a heads up though, it's really not healthy to interfere with your menstrual cycle in this way. If you don't want your period, then continue to take b.c. pills regularly every day or ask your doctor about getting a b.c. pill with decreased periods (there are quite a few out now that only make you complete your cycle 4 months out of the year). The hormonal changes your body - and most importantly your reproductive organs - have to go through to bring about your period should be allowed to to do so without interruption. Not taking b.c. and then taking b.c. to start your period can cause future irregular periods, increased cramping and pain, and disorders such as endometriosis.

You need to accept that the menstrual cycle is a normal, healthy process for the female body. Only if a medical abnormality exists should you consider interfering with it.
Stopping, interrupting, or interfering with it, without a medically necessitated reason, is not healthy.

Not unless today is the 1st day you didn't take them. You need to be on them at least a month for them to work. If you miss any days , you throw you whole system off.

Why don't you just go and get pregnant? Then you won't have to worry about it for a whole NINE months! Or you could just go have yourself a hysterectomy!
