if a company was called 'big hands' it would be a noun- a proper name.
if someone has big hands, you can't group the two terms under under one label;
'hands' are things, so thats a noun.
'big' is a describing word, so it's an adjective.
if you really had to group them under one term though, I think adjective would be the best fit, since you could describe someone as a person with big hands, just like 'tall' is an adjective. But to really make 'big hands' an adjective, you'd have to say 'big-handed', and Im not entirely sure if that's acceptable!!

Big hands would be a noun qualified by an adjective. If you want to describe a person then use the adjective "big-handed"

Big is an adjective, hands is a noun. BIG HANDS CO would be a proper noun. Big hands would not be together in a dictionary as it is normally not a compound word except in the case of a proper name.

If it is the name of a company, it is a proper noun. Separately, "big" is an adjective and "hands" is a noun. But together as one unit, as the name of a company, it is considered a proper noun :-)

hands is a noun (a common noun)
If Big Hands was the name of the company then Big Hands would be a noun (this time a proper noun)

That "were" isn't a passive verb. It's a being verb. But if your teacher does something stupid by rote like deduct a point for each being verb or auxiliary verb, I'd come back by rote with something like: "Julius Caesar and Sulla both dictated during the Civil War. People had a general belief that someone assassinated Julius Caesar because they thought that he would try to overthrow the Republic." See why being verbs can be useful? Tell your teacher that.

well big is an adjective, and hands is a noun. If you had to group them together it would be a noun - name.
