I have heard from almost everywhere that induction hurts worse than naturally starting contractions. I had started naturally with my first then induced to progress things along. Now I want to start naturally and keep it natural. Is it true that induction hurts worse then going the natural route?

My first was induced, and my others were natural. I thought it was the other way around. To me the natural hurt worse. I didn't have pain meds with any except my second one because I went so fast that hurt really really bad. I have four children and they were all fairly easy except that second one. Well good luck.

When you're in active labor, naturally or medically induced, pain is pain! Generally speaking though medically induced labors take about 24 hours (starting with cervidil the night before) where a naturally induced labor can start slowly and happen over quite a few days up to a week. The illusion is that it hurts more medically because it's faster. Pitocin contractions tend to be sharper, quicker and the peak lasts longer. Maybe this is what you mean.

Usually they give you petocin to induce labor. The petocin causes more aggressive contractions that tend to last longer, which is why a lot of women say they hurt worse. But, it's different for everyone, like just about everything else with pregnancy. However, being induced can actually make the time you would have spent in active labor much shorter. So the pain might be a little stronger, but you don't have to wallow in it for so long. It all just depends really.

I had to induce with my two daughters. It's not any more painful than having it naturally happening. It's gradual just like natural childbirth is. With my son I was able to do it natural and I honestly couldn't tell any difference. I liked the induction cause I had a better way of knowing when it would happen.

I asked my doctor this same question. He said that with an induction the contractions come faster so that your just getting more done in a shorter amount of time. It's no more painful than natural labor, it's just that it happens so much faster that your not prepared for the pain like you would have been if the contractions had built up gradually.

I was induced with my first, and was told before hand that due to the pitocin, the contractions would be worse than if I didn't have it. I had to have a c section with my second, so i have nothing to compare it to. I do know that after 3 contractions on the pitocin, i got an epidural and never felt another one!! So, I have heard yes also. Maybe it depends on how high they have the pitocin drip going too. I would LOVE to go natural with my third, but i just found out our hospitals will no longer do VBACS.
Good luck!!! and avoid being induced!

I was induced with both of mine, so I don't know what natural feels like. I haven't heard that before. I did have back lab or with my first and that was definately worse.

I had pre-eclampsia, and we wanted a natural childbirth, so they tried to induce me for 3 days.

I never dilated at all. They did a csection.
